Spring/Summer Clinical Trainings

The Midwest Access Project is pleased to share opportunities for local clinical trainings focused on contraception.

1. National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning is hosting free LARC trainings in Chicago on June 21 and 22. Training topics include Nexplanon, IUD Placement Basics, and LARC Challenging Cases. Choose the training sessions (PDF) that best fit your schedule. Complete this brief survey to attend.

2. Stroger Hospital’s Division of Family Planning is hosting “Top Tier Methods of Contraception Training.” The event will be held Friday, June 22 on the Odyssey Chicago, which is docked at historic Navy Pier, and will remain dockside during the training from 7:30am to 3pm. Didactic and hands-on training will be offered. At 3pm, the Odyssey will set out on a networking cruise, allowing guests to mix and mingle with fellow trainees and the trainers, while enjoying breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline and beautiful Lake Michigan. 3. Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative is hosting “Immediate Postpartum LARC Training” workshops in Springfield (May 31) and Chicago (July 30). The trainings are presented by ACOG Postpartum Contraceptives Access Initiative, and are open to all nurses, providers, and lactation consultants. Topics include: Capacity-Building Overview & Background, Contraceptive Counseling for the Postpartum Period, and Nurses & Lactation Consultation. Information and registration are available here.
